Frequently Asked Questions

In what locations do your products originate in terms of design, and where are they ultimately manufactured?

Our collections are, from British Columbia, drawing inspiration from the city’s vibrant design scene. Each piece is then brought to life by skilled artisans in Portugal. Family-owned and operated workshops in Central Portugal specialize in crafting our beautiful ceramics, while the flatware is meticulously produced in the north of the country. In Japan, we partner with a company steeped in over a century of glassmaking tradition to create our exquisite glassware. We champion the enduring appeal of classic design, and our commitment to sustainability ensures that our premium tableware is crafted with the utmost responsibility.

Are your ceramic products free of lead and other harmful heavy metals?

“We prioritize the health and safety of our customers by implementing meticulous testing procedures on all our products to confirm they are lead-free. This testing encompasses lead and cadmium, guaranteeing adherence to the strictest regulations set forth by GCGR, FDA, and Prop 65. To specifically assess the potential release of lead and cadmium, our products endure independent evaluations by third-party specialists. This evaluation follows the globally recognized Standard Test Method for Lead and Cadmium Extracted from Glazed Ceramic Surfaces (ASTM C738-94), the only authorized method of its kind.”

Can these items be safely cleaned in the dishwasher and used in the microwave?

Fable Dinnerware: Our ceramic dishes are designed for long-lasting everyday use. They can be conveniently cleaned in the dishwasher and are safe for heating food in the microwave or oven (up to 500°F).

Are ceramics susceptible to scratches?

Although minor surface blemishes caused by utensils are a common occurrence with semi-matte ceramics, their removal is a straightforward process using a suitable abrasive and cleaning implement. If you observe such marks, consider creating a paste with a scouring powder, such as Bar Keepers Friend, or a natural alternative like baking soda combined with lemon juice. These solutions will effectively address the blemishes.

Have you introduced a new design for your pasta bowls?

In response to your valuable insights (and to complement our innovative ceramic introductions from 2023), we’ve refined the design of our Pasta Bowls.

What causes the presence of minute inclusions within certain ceramic objects?
